01 — Mwanga Afya Cover

Health & Maternity

Supports members during hospitalization and maternity by helping cover inpatient and maternal care costs. The Maternity add-on provides pampers and a Ksh 5,000 gift hamper for mother and baby after delivery.

02 — Mwanga Farewell Cover

Bereavement Support

Covers essential funeral and burial expenses — from body preparation and transport to tents and seating — so families can give their loved ones a dignified send-off without the burden of sudden expenses.

Must be 18 years old and above, and hold a valid national ID.

A member must have been with the welfare for 4 months for Mwanga Afya Cover and 4 months for Mwanga Farewell Cover, from the date of the first monthly subscription. Members aged 70 and above require 6 months for Farewell Cover, and their next of kin must also be active members.

A member must be actively remitting their monthly subscriptions, including for the month of admission, for a claim to be valid.

Mwanga Afya Cover only caters for inpatient services and should be claimed within 72 hours after discharge, and not more than 7 working days thereafter.

The annual maximum available in Mwanga Afya Cover is divided equally among beneficiaries. For a member's first hospital admission, Mwanga Comforts tops up the total contribution by Ksh 4,000 where the bill exceeds it, for members with less than Ksh 15,000 in their account.

Where total contribution exceeds Ksh 15,000 at admission, payout follows a 30:30:40 ratio for Grades 1, 2, 6 and 7, and a 40:30:30 ratio for Grades 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9. Return patients within 3 months receive Ksh 2,000 plus half the member's contribution where contributions are below Ksh 15,000.

Mwanga Afya Cover fully covers maternity costs under the Maternity program, with additional benefits, for members who have been with us for 12 months.

The default period for both Afya Cover and Farewell Cover is 30 days, exclusive of the month of need. Following a default, the grace period resumes afresh from the new subscription date — 3 months for Afya Cover, 4 months for Farewell Cover under 70 years, and 6 months for Farewell Cover over 70 years, subject to waivers communicated from time to time.

Mwanga Comforts caters for up to three funerals per family per year, spaced four months apart unless accident-related. Funeral claims should be reported at least 72 hours prior to the burial date to allow for service facilitation and logistics.

Mwanga Comforts shall convert its services to cash or monetary equivalent upon member’s request. This shall be subject to approval by the management as the case shall be. Failure to make such request within 72 hours, only the listed services shall be provided.
